Laser Eye Surgery Nhs
since having Laser Eye surgery in 2001 i have varying VA?
i was +7 Rx with astigmastim. I have glare, halos & stars from light, light sensitivity.
I am most worried about my VA which vary. I have 5 different pairs of glases for different days. today i will not drive as regardless of Rx my VA are low although i can with one pair read ok & another see distance ok.
what are my treatment options? I am worried that if i have more Laser Surgery I’ll make my problems worse. but i’m worried if i don’t get some kind of treatment I’ll loose my driving licence.
is there anything the NHS can do? or would this be considered ’self inflicted’?
thank you for any advice.
I’m from new Zealand and we would have never have treated a +7 even without astigmatism!!! You need to go back to your ophthalmologist. Most people could have an enhancement but I’m unsure of how much cornea you would have remaining after that treatment.
The only way your visual acuity should change is when you start to get presbyopic (45 years+) and need reading glasses for close work.
Glare, halos etc a common side effects after the surgery as well as photophobia, I’m unsure why you would be getting that now. When was your last check? I would see your ophthalmologist or optometrist to make sure there are no underlying corneal issues…if this is a sudden onset of issues get checked ASAP…if it has been gradual over a few
Months get checked in the next few weeks.
Good luck and don’t put up with their rubbish either, you paid for a service.
In new Zealand we only treat up to a +4 with minimal astigmatism and you would have to have thick corneas +500 microns….and we have the latest NASA approved iLASIK technology
